Meet Virgil!

Originally from Florida, Virgil and his wife Tracy moved to Longview for a job opportunity. After losing his wife in 2018 Virgil felt lost and went to drugs and alcohol to cope. Virgil felt alone and isolated himself. After being kicked out of his apartment Virgil ended up at tent city in Longview.

In December 2021, he had one of many strokes and ended up at Peacehealth to heal. Upon release, the hospital referred him over to Community House Extended Services (CHESS) for a warm bed and shelter.

Today Virgil still resides at Community House Extended Services and has been clean and sober for over the past nine months!!!

Everyday he feels thankful for the companionship he receives from the residents and staff. One of his many joys in life is making people laugh and being a friend to others. Being here helps him keep fighting.
