Behind the name
Beth’s Place is named in honor of Mariah Beth Morrison who tragically passed away on August 10, 2023. The name ‘Beth’ means home or house in Hebrew.
Mariah was a light to many who knew her and found happiness helping others in need. She previously worked for Community House on Broadway and CORE Health throughout the years from 2018. We hope that all who stay at Beth’s Place feel at home and have hope that tomorrow is a new day full of possibilities.
Our History
Beth’s Place, an initiative by Community House on Broadway, aims to support youth in Cowlitz County to achieve self-sufficiency by offering services and resources. The Community House on Broadway, a sober homeless recovery center, strives to reduce the impact of homelessness by developing a youth shelter. By expanding services for unaccompanied youth facing homelessness, our goal is to alleviate community challenges and support the well-being of these individuals. Through addressing their housing needs, we aim to enable them to focus on education, mental health improvement, and engagement in extracurricular activities.
Our Vision
Our vision at Community House on Broadway is focused on creating a future where young individuals experiencing homelessness not only find hope and valuable connections but also access a well-defined route that guides them towards a more promising and optimistic futures.
This core mission is supported by our steadfast commitment to delivering purposeful assistance and promoting partnerships within the community, all aimed at generating enduring transformations for individuals who require assistance.
Our Values
We believe these elements are essential for youth experiencing homelessness to heal and grow:
Safety: We endeavor to provide an environment that fosters a sense of safety, security and trust.
Connection: We recognize that healthy connection and relationships are key for youth to heal from trauma.
Collaboration: We believe in partnering with youth to identify shared goals, give voice and promote youth empowerment.
Opportunity: We strive to offer youth opportunities to access meaningful support and services which address their holistic needs.
Community Need
Over the years, in Cowlitz County, there has been a noticeable rise in the number of unaccompanied youth. It is our firm conviction that by coming together as a community, we possess the ability to halt the recurring cycle of homelessness that profoundly impacts our county. This can be achieved by ensuring the provision of essential services, offering them a beacon of hope for the future.
