Meet Peter Hill!

Introducing Peter Hill!

Peter was once a resident at Community House on Broadway in 1990. He has since retired successfully from the Navy and made a significant mark in US Navy history. Here are his reflections on rediscovering Community House on Broadway after all these years.

"I was going through my pictures and found a photo of the only time I got to sit on Santa's lap and tell him what I wanted for Christmas. It was at the community house. I think this picture is from around 1990; I would have been around 6 years old. But I do remember helping my dad paint walls in a Karate Kid sweatshirt. I remember Santa, and I remember how happy I was with the gift I got. I made a good friend there, and we both played with our toys. But my dad and I were going through a really rough times during my childhood, living in the attic of a vacant house, and this place was there for us until we got a one-bedroom apartment. He passed in 2001, and I went on to have an amazing military career, from which I retired last year. I thank programs like Community House for existing because they have helped so many people and families. And without them, I don't know how we would have turned out. So after all these years, I wanted to say thank you for all that you have done and continue to do. "
