Meet Kellie!

I have been sober for 15 months from 40 years of active addiction.
I grew up in a family with generational addiction, and I started using at the age of twelve at home with my parents. I experienced homelessness with my daughter due to my addiction. She left for Washington and I followed her soon after. I ended up at Community House on Broadway (CHESS) after just attempting to get just a shower. Instead I got my shower and a warm bed and ended up staying because of the love and the support offered at Community House. After 9 months of working on my sobriety I made amends with my daughter.
With Community House's supportive services specialists we now live together in a successful independent living situation. With the help of the program I have learned about my illness and how to continue to control my situation. I've learned how to cope rather then turn to drugs.

I'm grateful for the opportunity and support I have received.
